Pickleball is kind of a mix between tennis and badminton or ping pong. It’s a fun game that is less intense than tennis but more of a workout than table tennis. This is why it’s popular with so many people here in Surprise, AZ.

Is there a Pickleball association in Surprise, AZ?
Here in our very own Surprise, Az Pickleball community there is a Pickleball Association. Learn more about the Pickleball Association right here. As part of the association you can take part in tournaments, events, and club games.
There are a lot of Pickleball lovers here in Surprise! If you are a fan, joining the association can be a great way to meet other enthusiasts and find great weekly game. The Pickleball Association also runs leagues. Though you don’t have to join the leagues to play Surprise, AZ Pickleball, they are a fun way to make sure you always have some competition for a great game. How do I play Surprise, AZ Pickleball?
The rules and gameplay of Pickleball are very similar to tennis. A match begins with a serve from the right hand corner of the court and must land on the opposite side of the in the opposite diagonal corner.
After a successful serve there needs to be a volley on each side before the fun can begin…after a successful back and forth there can be spikes and more aggressive maneuvers.
On either side of the net is a 7 feet wide “no volley” zone. As it is in tennis, points can only be scored by the serving team, each match is played to 11 points and the winners must best their opponent by at least 2 points.
Do I need a partner to play?
No! You can play as a single or in a pair for doubles! It can be fun playing with a partner but it’s not absolutely necessary for a fun game of Pickleball.
Are there Pickleball classes in Surprise?
Yes! There are some great options for Pickleball classes here in Surprise. Introductory Classes are available so if you’ve never played before you can learn from a pro!
