If this is your first summer in Surprise, Arizona you are going to need some tips for beating the heat, and keeping cool. Here are some of my top tips for getting through your first summer in Surprise without going crazy or burning up!

Top Tips To Get Through Your First Summer In Surprise
Be prepared!
Have water with you at all times. Get a reusable water bottle that insulates against the heat and make it your most loved fashion accessory. Having water with you at all times during the summer is not just a smart move for hydrations sake, it’s a great choice for fending off heat stroke and other heat related illnesses.
Don’t leave anything in the car!
The inside of your car when left out in the sun is going to easily reach 150 degrees or more. Don’t leave anything in there that can melt, never leave pets or kids in the car, and invest in one of those sun deflectors for the windshield. If you need to find a house that has a great garage give me a call!
Adjust your schedule!
Early morning is going to be a better time for outdoor activity than late evenings. Until midnight or later the temperatures are going to be hot hot hot. Early morning is a great time for walking the dog, doing outdoor chores, and more. If you have to adjust your schedule it is a way better option than trying to battle the heat.
Watch out for bees…and other animals!
The summer weather makes the animals adjust their schedule as well. So keep an eye out for all kinds of animals that are adjusting and coming out at weird times of the day.
Bees are especially tricky since their season lines up with some of the hottest times of the year. Bee stings can compound issues with the heat and potentially be deadly for both people and pets!
Protect your skin!
Always wear sunscreen and protect your skin from direct sun contact during the peak hours of 11 am to 3 pm. It’s the easiest time to end up with a bad sunburn! Don’t forget your shoes as pavements can be extremely hot (important for pet safety as well).
Find a Pool!
The best way to cool off is with a nice dip in the pool! If you don’t have one, that’s okay. Check out this great post to find a pool near you so you can cool off when the days get long and hot.
Build up to regular exercise!
If you aren’t accustomed to workout out when the weather is really hot make sure you build up to it and drink way more water than you think you need to. If this is your first summer in Surprise you will also want to make sure your pets are prepared for the new dry and hot weather!
